CLES success in 2015 Guardian subject league table

The College of Life and Environmental Sciences has enjoyed considerable success in The Guardian University Guide 2015, published this week.

Psychology leapt into 8th place in the influential guide. This follows hot on the heels of the department’s success in The QS World University Rankings, where it moved into the top 100 across the globe.

Geography climbed one spot to 12th, whilst Sport & Health Sciences maintained its 2nd place rank, reflecting its consistent international reputation for excellence in teaching and research, and exceptional track record for student satisfaction.

Biosciences ranked joint 6th in the UK, continuing to provide a stimulating, inspirational and multidisciplinary environment for students at the University’s campuses in both Cornwall and Exeter.

Professor Dan Charman, Dean of the College of Life and Environmental Sciences, said: “We constantly strive to provide an inspirational, challenging and rewarding learning experience for our students, which is reflected in these impressive rankings.

“It is particularly gratifying to see Psychology secure a top ten position in the league table, further confirmation that it is one of the foremost Psychology departments across the country with an outstanding reputation for research and teaching.

“Our success in all disciplines is testament to the dedication and passion for the subjects displayed by our students, our world-class academic staff and exemplary support staff, in both Exeter and Penryn.”

Exeter’s overall position is 12th out of 116 UK higher education institutions in the 2015 Guide, maintaining last year’s position.

These latest classifications, coupled with its standing in the top one per cent in the Times Higher Education international ranking, reiterate Exeter’s position as a world-leading university.

The Guardian University Guide ranks universities according to a number of factors, including academic excellence and how happy students are with their courses, based on the National Student Survey. It is also accompanied by rankings showing how universities perform across the main subject areas.
