Exeter in global top 100 for psychology

The University of Exeter has ranked in the top 100 in the world for psychology in the latest influential rankings.

Psychology has been ranked 95th in the Health and Sciences results of the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings by subject 2022, released today (September 16th 2021).

The rankings provide a list of the best institutions in the world to study Physical Sciences, Life Sciences, Psychology, and Clinical & Health. 1,523 universities from 98 countries and regions are ranked in at least one of the four subject tables.

Head of Psychology, Professor Joanne Smith, said: “We are proud to be ranked among the top 100 psychology departments in the world.

“This achievement reflects the hard work and commitment shown by our whole community to work together to provide world-leading research and teaching that seeks to understand mind and behaviour across the lifespan and across species and to use that understanding to improve health and well-being across all social groups.”

Exeter also ranked 126-150 in Physical Sciences, 101–125 in Life Sciences and 201–250 in Clinical & Health.

Phil Baty, Chief Knowledge Officer at THE commented: “The UK and US have traditionally been home to the world's top universities across the disciplines of Clinical and Health, Life Sciences, Physical Sciences and Psychology, and although the results of these rankings suggest that remains the same, it's clear that we're seeing other countries and regions, particularly across Europe and Asia improve their performances, echoing what we've seen in the recently released THE World University Rankings 2022.”
