In brief, students will complete and submit an MPhil/PhD upgrade report. This 5,000 word (maximum) document should outline the background to their research within the context of a review of the wider literature, identify the aims and main hypotheses under test, and outline the methodological approaches. In addition, it should include a presentation of results obtained to date, and discussion of the significance of those findings within the wider field. Finally, it should include a detailed thesis plan giving dates for expected completion of data collection, data analyses, and writing for each chapter. It is envisaged that the content of this report will constitute one or more chapter(s) in the final thesis. Supervisors should provide you with feedback on the report before you submit it.
