Outreach in Exeter

Teaching Enrichment Days

Our annual calendar of Teaching Enrichment activities aims to offer a wide range of focussed skills development sessions that support the delivery of school curriculum. Designed to align with a range of pre- and post-16 subject areas, these sessions – run and supported by university staff and students – bring participants to one of our campuses with the aim of supporting their school studies whilst providing an opportunity to explore the University of Exeter itself.

For a full list of opportunities, please visit our Teaching Enrichment Days pages.

Discovery Series

The Discovery Series is designed to bring an experience of a range of university courses to the classroom, and help students gain an understanding of the skills, practice and opportunities involved in studying that subject, as well as support for choosing the right options for their future progression.

The sessions will bring the subject to life by giving participants exclusive access to cutting edge research and interactive activities not available through any other route.

Led by staff and students from the discipline, the Discovery Series consists of 2 school visits and a third visit inviting students and staff onto a University of Exeter campus for a special finale, and taste of real university life and study.

Study Buddies

Our University of Exeter Study Buddies are current University of Exeter students who are trained to help your students develop their subject knowledge, practice their exam technique, and show them the exciting realities beyond their classroom learning.

In a series of visits throughout the school year, our Study Buddies will run a series of 1 hour sessions focussed on developing specific topic knowledge and revision strategies, as well as giving students a chance to ask questions about course material, study, and Higher Education.

Each session is focussed on an individualised topic set by teacher leads, based in school curriculum, with Study Buddies activities bringing ‘real world’ applications of classroom material to the fore.

The dates and timings of each visit are determined by the teaching lead, and lesson plans are developed collaboratively.

For a full list of subjects offering a Study Buddies programme, please visit our Teacher's Pages.

Day in the Life

Our Day In The Life programme brings individuals or small school groups onto campus to spend a day in the shoes of the University of Exeter student.

Accompanied by University of Exeter Student Ambassadors, students will attend undergraduate lectures, seminars and other academic sessions, take part in a full campus tour, and have the opportunity to speak to staff and current students about the course, student life, the university, the city, and the careers and opportunities available beyond graduation.

Exeter Scholars

The College of Life and Environmental Studies contributes to the University's Exeter Scholars programme.
