College visitors policy

Aims The University is committed to ensuring the health, safety and welfare of all staff, students and visitors. This Standard aims to define the responsibilities for compliance and management of this policy within the College for the purpose of carrying out teaching, experiments and research.
Scope This policy guides all users to the process for all visitors to the College. This process will ensure all visitors authorized by the College, insured for their visit can acquire IT and / or University card access if required.

1. Managers will make sure all staff are aware of the latest requirements of the College with respect to visitors. Managers

2. All staff who are having visitors to their respective buildings must contact their College administrator.  Staff List of administrators (.pdf)
3. College administrators will process the visitor and make sure all information is passed back to the member of staff and/ or visitor as appropriate. Managers  
4. Visitors who will be expected to working in a laboratory will require a completed risk assessment form; this form should be completed by the staff member concerned.  The form should be returned to the administrator who will forward it to the safety office. 5. An emergency contact form must be completed and returned to the administrator who will log this information. Staff/Visitor Emergency Contact Form (.doc)
6. The administrator will carry out an appropriate building induction. If working within  a laboratory a further induction will be carried out by the laboratory manager. Managers  
7. All visitors must agree to comply and adhere to all College safety procedures and report any issues back to the administrator or laboratory manager as appropriate. Visitor
