Aims The College of Life and Environmental Science (CLES) is committed to ensuring the health, safety and welfare of all staff, students and visitors. This Standard aims to define the responsibilities for handling, using and storing bottled gas cylinders which are used across the university for the purposes of carrying out teaching, experiments and research.
Scope This standard applies to all Microbiology work to be carried out within the college.

Relevant Legislation Health and Safety at Work Act (HASWA) 1974 and the European Communities Act 1972 and regulations within, including Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) 2002 Regulations (as amended)

5. Staff and students involved in this work will ensure that they follow instructions and safe operating procedures as identified in the risk assessment. This includes use of equipment, PPE and attendance at training. Staff and Students Online compliance form
6. Staff and students will complete the online compliance form so a record of induction, training and other information can be maintained. Staff and Students  
7. Staff and students will ensure that any hazards relating to this work are reported to the manager and PI. Staff and Students
